כִּנּוּי גְּנַאי לְאָדָם חֲסַר הַשְׂכָּלָה יְסוֹדִית. נִבְעָר מִדַּעַת (מְקוֹרוֹ הָרִאשׁוֹנִי שֶׁל הַבִּטּוּי בַּתּוֹרָה בִּבְרֵאשִׁית כג יב: "וַיִּשְׁתַּחוּ אַבְרָהָם לִפְנֵי עַם הָאָרֶץ", שֶׁמִּשְׁמָעוֹ הָעָם הַמְּקוֹמִי הַגָּר בָּאָרֶץ. בִּלְשׁוֹן חָזָ"ל 'עַם הָאָרֶץ' הוּא כִּנּוּי לַחֲסַר הַשְׂכָּלָה).
