In a straight standing posture. By extension: with pride or without any shame.

(Six things are disgraceful for a wise student: He should not go out drunk to the market, nor go out alone at night, nor go out wearing worn-out sandals, nor talk with a woman in the market, nor associate with the local nation’s company, nor enter last to the study hall.
